Der immer noch vorherrschenden Retro-Phase (wird es nur eine Phase bleiben?) haben wir dann auch die DESERT SUNS zu verdanken. Die Truppe aus San Diego hat sechs Songs mit einer Gesamtspielzeit von knapp 32 Minuten eingespielt und ist einfach umschrieben, dem Psychedelic-Rock zuzuordnen. In die Feinheiten gehend, hat die Band viel mehr zu bieten, wie der schön bluesige 70er-Opener ‚Burning Temples‘ direkt zu Beginn mal klarstellt. Das folgende ‚Space Pussy mit seinen kratzigen Psycho-Riffs dürfte allen MONSTER MAGNET-Fans absolut gefallen, währenddessen das flotte ‚Passung Through‘ die Stoner-Anhänger beglücken sollte. Entspannt, in Lagerfeuer-Stimmung, geht es mit ‚Ten Feet Down‘ akustisch zur Sache, bevor ‚Memories Of Home‘ dann mit rockigem, leicht vertracktem Stoner im Seventies-Gewand um die Ecke kommt. Abschließend erfreuen uns die Jungs dann noch mit dem knapp 6-minütigen ‚Run Through My Rooots‘, einer fantastisch, bluesigen Psycho-Doom-Granate mit viel Gefühl und Herzblut. Die DESERT SUNS passen wunderbar in die Zeit und wer eine Faible für Blues, Stoner, Psychedelic und Doom, verpackt im 70er-Sound hat, ist hier genau richtig adressiert. Retro rules und passend dazu gibt es die 6 Songs auf Tape – order here !!!
